Cassava Enterprise Association of Ghana

Who we are

Cassava Enterprise Association of Ghana (CEAG) is a non-profit making organization registered under the laws of Ghana in December 2021. CEAG promotes and encourages stakeholder interest in driving the Ghana Cassava Industrialization agenda and a Global market access strategy. CEAG works through industrial analysis and stakeholder participation to identify the strengths and weaknesses in cassava value chain and collectively find ways to capitalize on its strength and overcome value chain weaknesses.

OUR STORY

CEAG through its efforts is working to boost the livelihoods of rural and peri-urban farmers and implement strategies that will result in income generation and growth for all those involved in the cassava value chain as well as contribute to global food security and national economic growth.  One of the Associations main objectives is to help reduce hunger, malnutrition, and poverty in rural and urban areas, provide jobs for both the skilled and unskilled, as research opines that a percentage increase in cassava productivity could decrease the percentage of poor people living on less than $1 a day by 0.6% and 2%.

The contribution of the Cassava Industry to Ghana’s economy, such as cassava production, processing, supply to the various industries as food and raw materials, improved seeds to agricultural productivity, and increases in rural incomes, cannot be underestimated. This is believed to lead to poverty alleviation through positive effects on consumers’ food prices, producers’ incomes, and labourers’ wage incomes etc.

With a combined total of 1000 hectares of land under commercial cassava cultivation by its members, and the ability to scale up cultivation to 12,600 hectares with the necessary investment; CEAG is well positioned to access and capitalize on growing global demand for cassava and cassava related products and drive the development of a thriving cassava industry in Ghana.

OUR STRATEGY

The growing demand for cassava and cassava related products globally has made it imperative to develop a global market access/entry strategy to take advantage and establish our local food crop as a raw material base for global industrial market.

This can be achieved by;

CONCENTRATION

Market growth can occur when number of producers decreases but the total demand remains fairly constant

INNOVATION

Market growth occurs because cassava is found to have unique characteristics for new markets

COMPETITION

Market growth occurs because cassava becomes economically more attractive for a particular use than competing products

OUR VISION AND MISSION

OUR VISION

To ensure that cassava industrialisation will boost rural development an raise incomes for producers, processors, and all stake holders while contributing to the food security status of Ghana and the world

OUR MISSION

To drive a shift in focus of cassava production in Ghana from a food group approach and establish its position as a raw material base for diverse products and industrial use thus; contributing to the agricultural transformation and economic growth in Ghana.
